Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Inc. - CambridgeNancy Elaine Abbott, 94, of Cambridge, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Cardinal Place.
Nancy was born September 13, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter to the late George Benton and Josie (Reedy) White.
She graduated from Cleveland Heights High School and Virginia Intermont College with an associate degree. She was a member of the Cambridge Country Club and loving playing golf and cards. She enjoyed cross stitch, cross words, reading and taking care of her family. She did lots of volunteer work, including at the hospital under the WING program.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband John S Abbott, whom she married November 3, 1951, and who passed June 11, 2018, and her sister, Suzzanne Glans.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte (& Tom) McCartney of Cambridge; her three grandchildren, Dirk (& Denise) Martin II, Cassie (& Todd) Dever; and Evan (& Lane) McCartney; her seven great- grandchildren, Kerstyn, Noah, Cora, Finely, Lincoln, Sullivan, and Hayes; a niece and a nephew.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 11AM until the time of the service at 1PM at Thorn- Black Funeral Home in Cambridge with Rob Lilienthal officiating. Burial will follow at Northwood Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Nancy's name to Hospice of Guernsey or any other charity of your choice.
