Nancy Jane Bahn

February 1, 1931 - January 6, 2025

Miami, Florida - Born in New Jersey to Adolf and Anna Sander, she came to Miami in 1948. A graduate of Miami Jackson High School, class of 1956, she then attended the University of Miami. Earning a BA and a Master's Degree from the "U" she later earned a Doctorate in Public Administration (DPA) from Nova Southeastern University.

While at the "U" she was President of the Education Honorary, Kappa Delta Pi. She also served as President of Gamma Theta Upsilon; the Geography Honorary. In later years she became the first female President of the Florida Society of Geographers, a statewide organization.

In her younger years she was employed by Eastern Airlines for six years. After earning her Master's Degree, she began her career in Public Administration, working first for the Miami-Dade Planning Department where she was assigned to work at the Model City program and later the Community Development Department. After receiving her DPA she became the first Community Development Director for the City of Miami Beach. Moving on to the City of Miami she held several positions over a period of seventeen years, until her retirement in 1995.

After retirement, she worked part-time for fifteen years for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as a Disaster Assistance Employee.

With her husband, she was a member of the South Florida Chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America where she participated in many events. She also Belonged to the Natives of Dade/Miami Pioneers Club and the Women Heart organization. In her retirement years she appeared in many local commercials. Her main hobby was entering sweepstakes from which she won cars, cash and wonderful trips. She shared her hobby with the Treasure Hunters of South Florida.

She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Carlton C. Bahn, Jr., and her brothers Thomas Sander and John Sander. She is survived by cherished step-daughters Carla Bahn (Don Horton), Lisa Miller (Jack), and three exceptional grandchildren, Darryn Bahn (Alexandra), Ryan Bahn (Samantha) and Amanda Miller Neeld (Cameron).

Donations in her memory may be sent to the Horse Protection Association of Florida at www.HPAF.org.

Services will be held at Van Orsdel Kendall Chapel at 11220 N Kendall Drive on Monday, January 13, 2025 from 5:30PM - 7:30PM with a service at 6:15PM.
