Nancy Barber Obituary

Nancy Agan Barber

Windsor, VT - Nancy Claire (Agan) Barber passed away, surrounded by family, on June 7, 2025 after a brief illness. Born April 17, 1935 in Lebanon, NH to Mercedes (Bennett) and Raymond Agan, she was the youngest of two children. Her brother, Thomas, predeceased her in 2022. Nancy married Dr. Robert Barber, a local chiropractor, on July 1, 1961. Robert built them a home in Windsor where they resided for the entirety of their lives.

After raising her children, Nancy cared for her mother until her death in 1993 and then cared for her husband until he lost his battle with multiple myeloma in 2006.

After Robert's passing, Nancy became fiercely independent. She took great pride in her home and loved to entertain family and friends. She was happiest when she was home, and she was grateful that she was able to live there until her final few weeks. Nancy is survived by her three daughters, Mary Hemeon, Katherine Barber, and Abigail Tighe, her grandchildren, Michelle, Amy, and Matthew, her great grandchildren, Emma and Caden, a step son, Robert, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends whom she cherished dearly. A funeral Mass will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 10:30am at St. Francis of Assisi church in Windsor. Burial is private. Because Nancy always insisted on dressing in bright, colorful clothes, we ask that you do the same at the funeral to honor her memory! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local food pantry or to Habitat for Humanity.
