Nancy Barnes Obituary
Nancy L. Barnes, 81, gained her angel wings and went to Heaven on December 14, 2025, surrounded by love and her family.
She is survived by her husband of over 62 years, David G. Barnes; son, Darryl G. Barnes (Doreen); daughter, Debra B. Milligan (Grady); and brothers, Curtis C. Lewis and Russell E. Lewis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Helen Lewis; and her sister, Betty E. Winslow.
Nancy was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known to all as "Nana."
Her greatest pride and joy were her family. She is survived by her five grandchildren, Samantha Milligan, Shelby McMurray (Steven), Grayson Milligan (Jasmine), M. Bryce Barnes, and M. Beth D'Antuono (Harry); and her four great-grandchildren, Colton, Sadie, Brodie, and Delainey. Nana attended every birthday gathering and sporting event of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Nana never knew a stranger and loved talking with and getting to know everyone she met. Nancy worked at Quantico Dependent Schools (DoDEA) for over 35 years until her retirement in 1997.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Aquia Episcopal Church Cemetery.
