Nancy A. Bartek, 73, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 2, 1952, Nancy was raised on a farm in South Dakota, where her deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life first took root. From a young age, she developed a love for horseback riding, gardening, and the bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables grown from the land she called home. She spent countless joyful hours nurturing a thriving garden, foraging for morel mushrooms in the spring, and casting a line in the river with quiet contentment.
Nancy remained close to her roots throughout her life, building a home and a family in the area she cherished. In her later years, she found joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, and in finding a bit of fun and luck at the slot machines in local venues - always with a quick wit and a kind smile.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Mike Bartek; her siblings, Renee Ries of Norfolk, NE; Steve (Jane) Allard of Elk Point, SD; Mike (Tammy) Allard of Elk Point, SD; and Jim Allard of Sioux City, IA. She is also lovingly remembered by her children: Christopher (Megan) Bartek and their five children, and Anthony (Courtney) Bartek and their son. In addition, she leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Nancy will be remembered for her warmth, her humor, her connection to the land, and her enduring love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Friday, August 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kober Funeral Home in Elk Point, SD.
