Nancy Williams Batson

Nancy Williams Batson, age 93, of Ashland City, TN met her Lord on August 30, 2025. Nancy was born to the late Glenn Williams and Vallie Mae Frazier Williams on March 23, 1932 in Old Hickory, TN. She graduated from Cheatham County Central High School in 1950 where she was editor in chief of the yearbook, voted Best Personality by her classmates, and her motto was "Find a way or make one." She married Earl Batson on February 11, 1967. She is survived by her loyal and loving husband Earl Batson, children Sterling Claytor (Leah), Kim Engelman (John), and Beth Batson (Steve). She also leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Frances Greathouse, brother -in-law, Robert Batson, nine grandchildren, several bonus grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren as well as great-great grandchildren. Her children remember her as a kind, giving, prayerful, supportive, and loving mother. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers G.B. and David Williams as well as her oldest son Joe Claytor. Nancy retired from Cheatham County Board of Education in 1992 where she had served in food service including supervisor. She worshiped at Ashland City United Methodist church for over 50 years where she sang in the chancel choir, taught Sunday school, and lead many Bible studies. Additionally, she devoted many years, ministering to women at Cheatham County Jail as well as women's prison ministry. Christ and family were her focus, and she devoted her life to bringing others to know Christ. Cheatham County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements where the family will receive visitors on Monday, September 1 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, September 2 from 11 AM-1 PM time of service. The family wishes to thank the kind and loving staff at Vantage Pointe Memory Care as well as Accentcare and Adoration Home Health for the loving care she received for the past several years.
