Nancy Earle Belcher

December 20, 1940 - December 18, 2023

Nancy Earle Belcher, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on December 18, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born on December 20, 1940, in Beckley, West Virginia to her parents Earl Wilson Smith and Virginia Mae Warden Smith.

Nancy's journey through life was filled with joyous moments and remarkable achievements. She received her education at Woodrow Wilson High School and graduated in 1958 with great distinction. Nancy's love for learning knew no bounds and she excelled in all her endeavors.

In pursuit of a fulfilling career, Nancy dedicated several years of her life to working 1983-2017 for Dosco/American Commercial. Her unwavering commitment and strong work ethic earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.

Outside of work, Nancy lived life to the fullest by engaging in various hobbies and interests that brought her happiness. She had a special fondness for Longaberger baskets, cherishing each one as a unique piece of art. Additionally, Nancy enthusiastically participated in Weight Watchers programs which allowed her to prioritize health and wellness. An avid football fan, she rarely missed an opportunity to support her beloved AHS football team from the stands. She was a member of Abingdon Bible Church.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Kay Schwenk.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Larry Dean Belcher; son Kevin Belcher (Lori); daughter Karin Widener (Jeff); grandchildren Nick Widener, Kaylan Sayler (Matt), Shane Belcher (Mikayla), Nathan Widener; great-grandchilden Jensen and Holland Sayler; brother-in-law Doug Schwenk; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Farris Funeral Service – Main Street Chapel in Abingdon, Virginia. The visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. to allow friends and loved ones an opportunity to pay their respects.

Following the visitation, Nancy will be laid to rest on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5251 Robert C. Byrd, Beckley West Virginia 25801. Those attending the burial are asked to be at the cemetery by 9:45 a.m. in Beckley, West Virginia.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at English Meadows for the care they provided to Nancy.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis Tennessee 38105.

The family of Nancy Earle Belcher is being cared for by Farris Funeral Service & Crematory, Main Street location, 427 E. Main Street, Abingdon, Virginia 276-623-2700.
