Nancy Bohm Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chagnon Funeral Home Inc. on Apr. 2, 2024.
Nancy Ann Bohm, age 50, of Grayling, formerly of Onaway, died at home on Sunday March 31, 2024. She was born in Detroit on July 20, 1973, and was raised in Millersburg. Nancy graduated from Onaway High School in the class of 1992 and went on to further her education at Alpena Community College.
Through the years, Nancy worked several jobs, including cooking at the Millersburg Bar and working at McDonald's in Cheboygan. Eventually she became an over the road truck driver which she genuinely loved. She was able to visit all fifty states and was immensely proud of the hundreds of photographs she took of interesting places and unique things she was able to see on her travels. Sharing her pictures and many stories about her time spent as a trucker always brought a smile to Nancy's face.
To say Nancy was a movie buff would be an understatement! She especially enjoyed horror films, scary movies, and anything with Adam Sandler. She read books about vampires, jammed-out to a good variety of music, and enjoyed playing computer games. Nancy would color and do crafts for hours, enjoyed gardening, and loved looking for new recipes. A bit of a "foodie," she always knew exactly how she wanted a recipe to taste. She also was an avid shopper who loved buying Avon products to add to her collection. She loved to be pampered by having her hair and make-up done with a photo shoot afterwards. Sharing stories about her family and reminiscing about her childhood brought Nancy much joy.
On February 3, 2011, Nancy was involved in a serious accident leaving her quadriplegic. Since that time, Nancy has touched the lives of all who have been involved in her care. Some of her caregivers have been with her for years, developing strong bonds and becoming more like a family to Nancy. It wasn't always easy with Nancy as she could be a bit feisty and wasn't afraid to say what she was feeling, but when she loved, Nancy loved big and wasn't afraid to show it. She loved and trusted her caregivers and they loved her. Nancy's big heart and sassy spunk will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Nancy is survived by her father, August "Bert" Poppenfuse of Onaway; sister, Terrie Poppenfuse of Montana; nephew, Kasey; former husband, Loren "Al" Deline of Millersburg; her caregivers who she loved like family; and her dogs who held a special place in her heart, Rosie and Sable. She was preceded in death by her mother, Debra Poppenfuse (2023) and sister, Genevieve "Lynn" Samuel (2022).
A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Millersburg at 1:00 PM on Tuesday April 9, 2024. Pastor James Brabson will officiate.
