Nancy Bomango Obituary

Nancy Ann Bomango, aged 90, died peacefully at her home and went to be with her son Steve on March 7th 2025.

Born on April 30th, 1934 in Mount Airy, North Carolina to Earl and Della Carroll, they moved to Washington, DC in 1944 where she attended a vocational school. She went on to work a series of jobs leading to her career as a hairdresser. She married Thomas Bomango in 1953 and they were married 32 years until his death in 1985. She owned and operated Fine Lines on Market Street in downtown Frederick with her children Steve, Michael and Toni Bomango. After "the shop" closed in 2004, Nancy moved onto to Gettysburg, PA where she opened Realms of Enchantment. Surrounded by fairies, dragons and gnomes, Nancy retired in 2014 to enjoy life with her family.

Nancy is survived by her children, Michael and Toni Bomango and her grandchildren, Joseph Bomango & Lila Phebus, step granddaughter Anna Jachowski, as well as various cousins locally and back in her childhood home in Hillsville, Va. Surviving are also her foster son, David Conrad and his daughter Emily Conrad.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later date. Nancy had one request after her passing; in lieu of flowers, please send/take flowers to your local nursing home.

In Loving Memory of Aunt Nancy
Words feel inadequate to express the profound loss we all feel with Aunt Nancy´s passing. She was truly one of a kind-a woman whose strength and fierce independence left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Aunt Nancy never minced words or backed down from what she believed in. Her strong will and no-nonsense approach to life were legendary, but beneath that tough exterior beat a heart overflowing with love for her family. She poured everything she had into providing for her children and grandchildren, working tirelessly throughout her life with a generosity that knew no bounds.
Those wonderful visits filled with her colorful stories "down in the holler" and her abundance of advice (whether we asked for it or not!) are treasures we´ll carry with us always. She had a way of filling every room with her presence and every conversation with wisdom earned through a lifetime of experience.
The love she had for her family was fierce and unwavering-the kind of love that creates a foundation strong enough to last generations. Though our hearts are heavy knowing there won´t be another visit, another story, or another piece of her invaluable advice, we can find comfort knowing that her spirit lives on in all the lives she touched.
Aunt Nancy was indeed one of a kind, and I will love and miss her forever.

Nancy had a way of making you feel like family. I had the pleasure of working for her at Fine Lines. She was a trip!!! I took her to her family home in VA one time. We stopped at a gas station and she showed me the joy of a glass bottled coke with peanuts in it. Nancy was devoted and proud of her family. I'm sorry for your loss. She was a hell of a woman!!!

I remember being a little girl going to Fine Lines with my mom and Nancy was always so sweet to me. She loved showing me all the fairies up front and telling me their stories. I still have several that I saved up my allowance money for. Thinking of your family during this difficult time.
