It is with profound sorrow we share Nan Bowman, 69, of Prospect, Virginia, passed
away on September 24, 2025. Nan was born on May 16, 1953, to Nancy Bowman and
the late James Bowman. She was married to George Bowman II for 32 years.
There are no words adequate to describe Nan; she was a loving wife, mother, sister,
and daughter. She was an incredibly passionate gardener and baker, fondly
remembered for her Christmas cookies, beautiful flowers, and delicious cherry delight.
She was a dedicated servant of Jesus Christ, demonstrating His love in the way she
treated every person she met, including the many children she welcomed into her
home. Nan deeply cared for wildlife, including every stray cat (and dog) that wandered
into her path. Her life was a legacy of love, and her bright light will be deeply missed.
Nan is survived by her husband, George, her mother, Nancy, her son George (III) and
daughter-in-law Lydia, her daughter Rebecca, her sisters Carol, Laura, and Helen,
along with several nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is pre-deceased by her sister,
Linda Adler.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 1 pm, immediately followed by
a memorial service at 2 pm at Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville, Virginia. In honor of
Nan’s life and love for gardening, flowers are welcome and may be sent to Puckett
Funeral Home.
