Nancy Brown Obituary

Nancy C. Brown, age 79, of Fairwater, WI was welcomed by the angels, into Jesus’ loving arms on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Christian Home in Waupun, WI.

Nancy was born in Detroit, MI on August 29, 1946, the daughter of Clarence and Alma (Dukes) Stevens. She had many happy memories of being raised in Upper Michigan with her cousins and friends. Nancy graduated from Iron River High School. In 1966 she married Thomas L. Brown in Sagola, MI, and they spent the first few years of their married life in Milwaukee where they welcomed their first daughter, Tammy. The family then settled in Fairwater, where their second daughter, Gail joined the family.

Nancy had a deep love for her cats, Ruby and Angel, and many other furry friends who came before them, who brought her endless comfort and companionship. Above all, she was incredibly proud of her grandchildren, Sarah and Jen, who were her greatest joy and constant source of pride. Traveling to Georgia each year to spend time with her extended southern family with her beloved husband was a cherished tradition that became her happy place. Nancy also had a soft spot for animals and loved to feed the squirrels, stray cats, and birds, always showing kindness to every creature that crossed her path. In her free time, Nancy enjoyed reading, especially mystery books. She loved her bling, apparent by her love for bright colored clothing and jewelry, and many treasures collected over the years.

Nancy had a strong faith and was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater. She put all of her trust in Jesus and knew that this world was not her final destination. Family was most important to Nancy and she encouraged them through difficult times by sending them cheerful cards with now hand written Bible verses - sometimes with a little extra “glittery” surprise!

Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Tammy (Peter) Degenhardt of Germantown, WI and Gail Brown of Fairwater, WI; grandchildren, Sarah and Jennifer Degenhardt of Germantown, WI; sisters-in-law, Carol Brown, Judy (Larry) Bacon, Joyce Domke, and Donna Brown; and numerous nieces; nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Alma (Dukes) Stevens; her loving husband of over 50 years, Thomas Brown; several brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; a half-sister-in-law; aunts; uncles; and close cousins.
