Nancy Cadengo (Nana) of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on October 25, 2025. Born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, on May 14, 1962. She was the daughter of Jacinto Cadengo and Lilia Ruiz. She attended West High School upon arriving in the United States.
Nancy was a devoted nana; she lovingly helped raise her grandchildren, caring for them over the years, and always stepping in to help her daughters so they would never have to worry about childcare. Her selflessness, devotion, and unconditional love were a true reflection of her generous heart and the deep bond she shared with her family.
Nancy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed watching nature documentaries, bird watching from her window, and spending peaceful moments taking in the beauty around her. When she felt like stepping out, she cherished binge shopping trips with her daughters and sharing laughter and excitement at the casino. She will be dearly missed by so many.
She is survived by her father, Jacinto Cadengo; daughters, Sandie (Marco) Garcia, Elizabeth (Leo) Garza, Laura (Kalvin) Garza, Daniela (Jaime) Garza; grandchildren, German and Christopher Ramirez, Alicia and Gordon III Cooper, Rafael, Jorge, and Edwin Ruiz, Sophia Garcia, Arianna Melecio, David Melecio, K'drian, Kalese, and Kyrese Gillette; great-grandchildren, Irlanda and Arnulfo Ramirez, Mateo Delgado; siblings, Lidia Cadengo, Arturo (Irma) Cadengo, Jaime (Nila) Cadengo, Jesus Cadengo; special friend, Hugo Duran. Predeceased by her mother, Lilia Cadengo Ruiz, and her beloved granddaughter, Jaylynn Ramirez.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Honquest Family Funeral Home – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd. Loves Park, IL, 61111, at 1:00 PM, with a visitation starting at 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Rockford, IL.
