Nancy Cavallaro Obituary

Nancy A. Cavallaro passed away peacefully on February 10, 2023, at the age of 82 after a courageous fight with Leukemia and Lymphoma.
Nancy was born in New Haven on August 11, 1940 and was raised in Woodbridge. Nancy was the only daughter born to the late Dominic and Mary Giordano Carasone. Nancy was a devoted wife of 32 years to her late husband, Vincent.
Nancy is survived by her son Frank Pomarico, Jr, and his wife Denean of Woodbridge; stepdaughter Marla Cavallaro of Charleston SC; her adored granddaughter, Cassandra Pomarico; her brothers' Dominic Carasone Jr. and John Carasone and his wife Lucy. Nancy also leaves her lifelong best friend, Auntie Adeline Stango. Nancy is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Nancy is predeceased by her brother Joseph Carasone.
Nancy a lifelong Woodbridge resident attended local schools and decided to pursue a career as a hairdresser which she enjoyed for over 60 years. One of the most important things to Nancy was spending time with her family, preparing her holiday meals, and upholding her Italian traditions especially making her Sunday sauce. All family functions always included Nancy's homemade cookie trays with her delicious anginetti and pignoli cookies.
Nancy was an active member of the Ladies Guild and an Usher at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Nancy would decorate the Mother Church for Mass with flowers from various parishioners' gardens. Nancy was a former president of The Woman of Woodbridge Organization. Nancy always looked forward to spending time with her many friends for their weekly luncheons, shopping trips and card games.
Celentano Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 81 Center Road, Woodbridge, CT at 11:00am on Friday, February 17, 2023. Friends may call on the family at Our Lady of the Assumption Church prior to mass from 10:00am-11:00am. Interment will be private.
Nancy's family would like to thank the staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital for the exceptional care provided to Nancy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Nancy Cavallaro to Smilow Cancer Hospital at www.givetoynhh.org

My deepest condolences to the Carasone/Cavallaro families. Nancy was a wonderful person, a great sister in law. Our card games (14) are sadly missed, as well as all the fun times we had. RIP Nancy.
