Nancy Charves Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 22, 2025.
Nancy Lizabeth Charves, 67, of Medway, MA, formerly of Rhode Island, died on May 19, 2025 peacefully at home of pancreatic cancer, with loved ones at her side. Born in East Providence, RI on December 30, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Edward Charves and Evelyn Moran, as well as Evelyn's long-term companion John Papagolos. Nancy was a 1975 graduate of St. Mary's Academy-Bay View and graduated from Boston College in 1979. She earned her master's degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management from UMass Amherst. Her career first brought her to Sheraton Hotels in Chicago, New York City, Savannah, and Washington, DC. To fulfill her passion for travel, Nancy embarked on her next adventure in the luxury cruise industry with Windstar Cruises and Seven Seas Cruise Line. She worked in the position of Chief Purser, overseeing financial management, crew administration, and guest services. The ships took her to many different ports of call including in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Asia, Australia, and French Polynesia in the South Pacific.

She later married and moved to Medway, MA. Nancy and her former husband, Corentin Corre of France, had two children. Nancy was devoted to her daughters, who were her pride and joy. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Camille Corre, a resident physician in child neurology in Rochester, NY and her partner, Dr. Mujtaba Soniwala, also of Rochester. Nancy was predeceased by her daughter Caroline Corre, who died in 2015 at the age of 19 from complications of ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T). Nancy was a fierce advocate and worked tirelessly to ensure that Caroline lived a full and meaningful life without limitations. In addition, Nancy was the adored mother of three Maltese dogs, Jack, Nutmeg, and Cocoa; Cocoa was by her side until the very end. While raising her daughters, Nancy devotedly spent years organizing fundraisers for the A-T Children's Project and later ran a successful textbook business out of her home.

Nancy was a force to be reckoned with - spirited, opinionated, and a powerful advocate. She loved fiercely and tirelessly. She was loved by many wonderful friends and will be dearly missed by all.

Loved ones are invited to join a celebration of Nancy's life on June 16 at the Thayer Homestead in Medway, with visiting hours 6-9pm and remarks at 7:30pm. A second celebration will be held on June 23 in Rochester, NY at the Olmsted Lodge (Highland Park) with visiting hours 5:30-8:30pm and remarks at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Nancy are invited to make a donation to the A-T Children's Project.

Ah... Nancy.... The world was a better place with you in it. You righted wrongs, gave support, and definitely had your opinions backed by some great logic!! I always enjoyed our get togethers with mothers from the children´s play group we had at the "Y" with our 2 year old daughters. We hadn´t gotten back together since Ginny passed a few years ago. I wish I had gotten a chance to see you again before you left this world behind. We all will miss you

Camille and Muj, thank you for including us in these last days. I'm so glad I finally got to meet you in March. Your Mom was a true force of nature and she was SO SO proud of you and your sister. She knew her own mind and she did this her way. Hanging with her at home in March was so much fun, and she had a wonderful peace about her. The Bay View girls will have to get some stories together for you for when we celebrate her life. Job well done my friend.
