Nancy Jo Chipman

Nancy Jo Chipman was born March 19th, 1940 in Salt Lake City Utah, she was the daughter of Nathan and Josephine Payne. She had two brothers; Thomas and Jerome Payne, Thomas currently resides in South Carolina. She is survived by her son Victor James Dougherty, her stepchildren Dr. Clark Chipman and his wife Susan of Portland Oregon, Jill Ellen Chipman of Douglas City California, and nieces and nephews.
Nancy Jo graduated from Mayetta High School, Mayetta Kansas in 1958 she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ottawa University in 1995 and obtained her master of arts degree from Webster University in St. Louis Missouri. "Jo," worked as a recovery counselor in the field of substance abuse providing evaluation, education, and treatment services. She was beloved by the recovery community for the way she was always accessible, made the meetings fun and still could go right to the heart of a matter.
Nancy Jo served on the Johnson County Advisory Adsap Committee, was secretary /treasurer to the Kansas Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Counselors Association. Mama loved animals, was a life-long contributor to the ASPCA and cared for many dogs, birds and fish in her lifetime.
