Nancy Marie Choate

Nancy M. Choate, a beloved figure in the lives of many, passed away on January 6, 2026, her birthday, at the age of fifty. Born on January 6, 1976, in Port Arthur, Texas, Nancy's life was marked by joy, laughter, and an infectious spirit that endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Nancy dedicated her professional life to industrial sales, where her personable demeanor and keen insight made her a respected member of her field. Yet, it was not solely her career that defined her; it was her love for travel, her passion for cooking and entertaining, and her ability to conjure laughter that truly made her memorable. Known as the life of the party, Nancy had an innate talent for making those around her feel special, whether through her delightful conversations or the exquisite meals she joyously prepared to welcome friends and family into her home.

She cherished the moments spent with her family and took immense pride in being a mother. Her legacy continues in the hearts of her husband, Eddie Mark Choate of Brookeland; her parents, Thad Borne and Robbi Green of Port Arthur; Mother-in-law, Bethel Choate of Brookeland, her son, Alex Albair of Orange; and her daughters, Kaytelyn Surratt and her husband, Jacob, of Nederland, and Megan Hale and her husband, Brian, of Draper, Utah and her sister-in-law, Cindy McNamara and her husband, Jude, and her precious and beloved grandbabies, Raycer Surratt, Nicolette Daisy Hale, and Jon Luke Hale.

Nancy's life was further enriched by the bonds she shared with her sisters, Peggy Selman and her husband, Dr. Tom Selman, of Port Neches, and Patti Borne and her husband, Brandon Sawyer, of Evergreen, Colorado. She was a doting aunt, revered by her nieces, Dalia Gaspard, Scottie Selman and Danielle McNamara, and her nephews, Dr. Chase Selman and Trey Selman and his wife, Kinley, and Brandon Drake and his wife, Audrey.

Nancy was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Wanda Borne, her father-in-law, Eddie James Choate, and her brother-in-law, Steven Lynn Choate. As we reflect on her life, let us remember the vibrant personality who painted her world with love and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched. The warmth of her presence will be greatly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the cherished memories of her family and friends.

The funeral services for Nancy will be held at The First Christian Church located at 5856 9th Avenue, Port Arthur, TX, on January 17, 2026.  Visitation will commence at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM.  A graveside service will be held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches concluding the day's reflections on her life and legacy.
