Nancy P. Dey, beloved daughter of Arlene and Philip Prouty of Springfield, MA passed away on October 31st with family by her side. Nancy was born February 6, 1926 at which point she joined her older siblings Charles and Elizabeth. She later married Dexter Dey on October 9, 1948 and was widowed on November 25, 1971. She worked for the Christian Science Benevolent Association until she retired. During her lifetime, she enjoyed traveling and exploring new places. Nancy visited Costa Rica, Europe, and China just to name a few. During these trips, Nancy took many pictures so that she could paint them when she returned home. She saw the beauty in even the simplest things, and sought to bring that out in her paintings. She was a talented artist in many ways not only with painting, but also pottery. Her artwork lives on and is displayed in all of her family member's homes. She was also an avid reader and was a frequent visitor of Ayer Public Library. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Pamela Arena, and her husband Russell of Littleton as well as granddaughters Kate, Rachel and Julie. She was also fortunate enough to meet her great granddaughter, Layla. Nancy is also survived by her son David Dey, wife Robyn and grandchildren Phillip and Elizabeth of North Attleboro. It being Nancy's wish, there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy's name to: Nashoba Nursing and Hospice, 3 Patterson Road, Suite 3 Shirley, MA 01464. Checks can be made out to Friends of NNS&H.

Nancy was my neighbor in Ayer for about Five years. I loved having her as my neighbor, she was very kind and thoughtful of others. I loved seeing all her paintings and the stories behind them. I remember her as always cheerful and interested in chatting with you. Rest in peace!
