Nancy Marie Dolkowski, age 81, resident of Canton, MI for 27 years, passed away at home the morning of Tuesday, July 18, 2023 after a two year battle with cancer.
She was born on September 12, 1941 in Detroit, MI to Anthony and Helen (Fylyma) Sliwka. She graduated from Detroit Pershing High School in 1959. Nancy met Ronald Dolkowski and after four years of dating they got married on May 13, 1961. They resided in Dearborn Heights and raised two sons there, Jeff and Jim. Nancy was very active at St. Linus Parish and later at Divine Child Church. She worked at various steel brokerage firms and gained experience that would lead her to open her own steel company, Nadaco Steel Incorporated. Nancy ran a successful business for 25 years before her retirement in 2016.
She was always on the go, and throughout the years she belonged to numerous clubs with her many friends. Books, cards, quilting (each one of her grandchildren has a beautiful quilt made by her), and travel were her favorite activities. Throughout the years she took over 15 cruises, visited almost 20 different countries and saw nearly every U.S. state.
She had a big heart and would do anything for anyone. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She always enjoyed a party, a fun card game and a good margarita. She will be dearly missed by all.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ronald. Sons Jeffrey (Christina) and James (Deborah). Grandchildren Aaron (Meghan), Brittany, Justin, Troy, Courtney and Brooke. Great-grandchildren Paige, Quinn and Reese. Sister Patricia (The late Richard) Kraus. Aunt to Ricky, Kimberly and Kelly and Great Aunt to Alexyss, Jordyn and Jake.
Donations are requested to go to Angela Hospice in Livonia, MI.
Visitation Sunday, 1 pm – 8 pm with an evening service at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home. In state Monday 12 pm until the 12:30 pm Funeral Mass at Church of the Divine Child, Dearborn.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Angela Hospice in Livonia.
