Nancy Stone Dollison of
Charleston, West Virginia, passed peacefully on October 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughters and husband. Nancy was born on November 20, 1963, in
Charleston, West Virginia. She attended George Washington High School, Marshall University, and the University of Charleston. She worked as a commercial real estate broker at Goldman & Associates for almost 40 years. She loved the life she built in South Hills and all the wonderful people she met along the way.
Nancy was a lover of all animals, especially her orange tabby cats Chubby and Travis, and her golden retriever, Moose. Nancy loved to spend time in her carefully curated Connell Road home with her tabby cats and golden retriever. You would often find her sitting on her back deck, enjoying the sunshine and holding court on her cell phone. As a child, you could find Nancy riding her horse through South Hills or spending time with her sisters and friends. She loved to talk about her childhood and the horse kept in the little barn at the end of Turley Road; often recalling the fond memories of riding through the woods around South Hills. Nancy was also a lover of the beach and sun. Her favorite place was the beach at Isle of Palms, South Carolina, where you could find her walking on the beach or enjoying a bike ride. Family and friends meant everything to Nancy. She was a true and loyal friend to those close to her. Nancy was a kind and gentle soul, but spirited and never afraid to tell you exactly what she thought.
In addition to her real estate skills, Nancy was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain. She was also an accomplished decorator and had a keen eye for fashion. Nancy was always up for a trip or adventure and loved to travel. She was forever planning and organizing the next get together or trip months in advance and making sure everyone was going to be there. Her two daughters, Lia and Emma, were her pride and joy, and she was so very proud of their close relationship with her. Nancy talked to her girls several times a day, with them seeking her advice and counsel on every aspect of their lives. More than anything, Nancy loved having both of her girls at home or at the beach and just spending time with them. Her girls will miss their best friend and confidant every day, but they will cherish all the memories of the times they spent together.
Nancy fought her cancer with courage and grace that was truly remarkable and inspiring.
Nancy was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Emogene Stone and John Stone of
Charleston, West Virginia, and Sister, Teresa Thomas of
Charleston, West Virginia. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Lia Dollison and Emma Dollison, her husband, Chud Dollison, her sister, Laura Wehrle, and her best friend, Chubby, the orange tabby cat. Nancy is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on November 1, 2025, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in
Charleston, West Virginia.
In honor of Nancy's courageous battle with cancer, Nancy's family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the West Virginia University Cancer Institute. In her final days, the West Virginia University medical team tended to Nancy with incredible compassion, tenderness, and care. We are forever grateful for her team of nurses and doctors in Morgantown and
Charleston, West Virginia.
