Mrs. Nancy Shamel Doub, 89, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, peacefully at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Forsyth Co. on August 21, 1934, the daughter of the late Ammon Wiley Shamel and Della Martin Shamel.
Nancy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be remembered as a strong, hardworking woman with a sometimes feisty personality. She loved to cook and always made sure everyone was fed. Nancy loved flowers, shopping and nature. She was the core of the home and nurtured everything around it, including the farm. She was an accomplished seamstress, making many of her children’s clothes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband four weeks ago, Bobby Wake Doub; two sisters, Mary Frances Carmichael and her husband T.W. and Marjorie Sellars and her husband Eric; and her brother, Lawrence Shamel. Nancy is survived by two daughters, Jane Doub and Kathy Doub; a son, Wake Doub (Elizabeth); her granddaughter and the light of her life, Hayden Elizabeth Doub. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Elm Grove Church with Rev. Eddie Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at Elm Grove Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful caregivers that became part of the family.
