Nancy Dougherty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Richardson Funeral Home - Leominster on Feb. 25, 2026.
Nancy L. Dougherty (Mrs. D), 85, of Leominster, MA passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026 at The Willows of Worcester.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Terrence Dougherty; her son, Sean Dougherty; her parents, W. Woodrow and Thelma Wilson; and her sister, Betty Lou Tarlton.

Nancy is lovingly survived by her three daughters: Michelle Gardner and her husband, Richard, of Virginia; Maureen Petit and her husband, Robert, of Grafton; and Melanie Dandini of Leominster. She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren-Zachary (Kiersten), Teagan (Samuel), Benjamin (Erin), Alex (Vickey), Jillian (Shannon), Nico, Santino, Gaetano, Aidan, Caroline, and Leo-as well as seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Before retiring in 2013, Nancy served as a Paraprofessional in the Life Skills Program at Leominster High School for 27 years and worked at the front desk and nursery at Orchard Hills Athletic Club. In her earlier years, she was actively involved with the Welcome Wagon of Leominster and the Big Sister Little Sister Organization, where she shared her remarkable gifts of hospitality and compassion.

Nancy cherished time spent camping with her late husband and her dogs, and she was a devoted presence at her grandchildren's special occasions, significant events, and milestones. Her friends were also a very important part of her life. Whether it be yearly trips to Ogunquit, lunch, celebrating birthdays, or just sharing a cup of tea.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all of the caregivers at The Willows of Worcester for their compassion and care.

A Celebration of Life Service for Nancy will be held at the Leominster United Methodist Church, 77 Hall St, Leominster, MA on Saturday, Feb 28, 2026 at 3:00 PM.
