Nancy Fick

Nancy Jo (Wendt) Fick, 80, Longmont, CO, died in her home on September 23, 2022. Nancy was born outside Inglewood, California on February 17, 1942. She was raised by Ralph and Phillis (Cockrell) Wendt in Le Mars, Iowa. She attended Le Mars Community High School where she met her future husband, Fred Fick. They were married on March 11, 1961. While in the Navy, Fred was in a car accident which left him partially paralyzed and Nancy cared for him faithfully until his death in 2014. Fred and Nancy made their home in Le Mars from 1961 - 1965 when they moved to Lafayette, CO, and began raising and showing quarter horses. They moved to Longmont, CO in 1979. Nancy was an active member of Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church and served the congregation in many different capacities. Her family remembers her most for her love of family and gift of hospitality. Survivors: Son, Clint (Candee) Fick, Loveland, CO; Brothers, Ron Wendt, Akron, IA; Jerry Wendt, Le Mars, IA; Tom Wendt, Stillwater, MN; and Dick Wendt, Magee, MS; Grandchildren Anna, Luke (Haley) and Joel Fick; several nieces and nephews along with their children. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Fred Fick, father Ralph Wendt, mother Phillis (Cockrell) Wendt, and brother Bob Wendt. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2022, at Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1221 17th Avenue, Longmont, CO 80501. A reception will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church or a charity of one's choice.
