Nancy B. Flannery, a cherished beacon of love and support, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, in Manchester, CT. Born on December 7, 1953, in Bristol, CT, Nancy's life was one of unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and those in need of guidance. Her journey on earth may have concluded, but the warmth of her legacy endures.
Nancy's life was marked by a profound commitment to her loved ones and her community. She married her soulmate, John R. Flannery, in 1987, and together they built a life centered around respect, compassion, and joy. Nancy's devotion to her family was matched only by her professional passion; she earned a bachelor's degree in Addiction Counseling from Tunxis College, dedicating herself to helping others navigate the challenges of addiction with empathy and expertise.
Her parents, Albert and Anna Beger, instilled in Nancy a strong sense of kindness and integrity, traits she carried throughout her life. Although they, along with her favorite aunt, Irene Johnson, predeceased her, Nancy's spirit of generosity continued to flourish. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Kirby Linn Flannery, and a maternal figure to Kirby's best friend, Melissa Ouellette, whom she adored as if she were her own.
Nancy's familial tapestry extended to her brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat and Joe Banning, Janet and Glenn Figelski, Tom and Hollie Flannery, Robert and Pattie Flannery, Barry and Kim Flannery, Donald and Nancy Flannery, and Barbara (Buffy) Oster. Her nieces and nephews, Sue Banning, Lisa Figelski, Heather Willoughby, Jesse Flannery, Daniel Flannery, Laurisa Flannery-Heapes, Jenna Demay, Myranda and Jordan Armstong, and Leanna Flannery, along with numerous great-nieces and nephews, were blessed to experience her unconditional love and sage advice.
Nancy's heart was large enough to encompass not just her family but every creature she encountered. An ardent lover of all animals, she shared her home and heart with numerous furry friends throughout the years. Her zest for life took her on adventures to Disney, a place where her inner child shone brightly, and across the seas to Ireland, where she embraced her heritage with open arms. The thrill of travel also led her to explore the Caribbean on a memorable cruise to Puerto Rico and surrounding islands.
Closer to home, Nancy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had taken a vacation with John along with other family members at "Rydin Ranch," where she basked in the beauty of nature, and she never missed an opportunity to cheer on her beloved Red Sox or the UCONN Huskies basketball teams. Concerts with her daughter Kirby were treasured moments, filled with music and laughter, creating memories that will echo through time.
Nancy's move to Plainville in 1994 marked the beginning of a new chapter, one where she continued to be a helping hand and a listening ear to all who needed her. Her honesty, loyalty, and ability to love without judgment were her hallmarks, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched.
As we bid farewell to Nancy B. Flannery, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace. Her legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering support will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Nancy's light may have dimmed on this earth, but it shines brightly in the lives of those she loved.
