Nancy Florence Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woodhead Funeral Home - Berry on Sep. 11, 2025.
Nancy Louis Smith Florence went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the age of 88, after a short struggle with dementia. She is finally at peace and in no more anguish. She will be missed, but the family rejoices that she is now with her Savior – healthy and whole. Hallelujah! Nancy was born December 23, 1936, in Harrison County, KY to Roscoe Verner Smith and Anna Garnett Wood Smith. After graduating from Harrison County High School, she married the love of her life, Malcolm McCoy "Mackie" Florence, for 63 years before he predeceased her in his homecoming in 2019. She worked as a homemaker, a business owner, and a realtor. Nancy was an active member at Indian Creek Christian Church and Nicholson Christian Church, where she often served in the nursery because of her love of babies. She volunteered for hospice by crocheting keepsakes for families, and had a love for gardening, canning, and quilting. Together with her husband, Nancy raised three beautiful girls, Bobbi Monahan (Dan), Donna Taylor (Jeff) and Laura Koo, followed by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was also predeceased in death by her brother, William Allen Smith and a sister, Linda Smith Renshaw. She is survived by one sister, Carol Ann Smith Carter, who resides in Florida and many nephews and nieces who she loved as her own. She is also survived by her lifelong friend Pauline Copes. The family would like to thank Grant Manor and St. Elizabeth Hospice for the incredible care and love that they showed Mom during her final days. We will forever be grateful to you. Funeral services for Nancy will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 1 PM at the Woodhead Funeral Home in Berry, KY. Visitation will precede the service from 12-1, with interment at the Pythian Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Indian Creek Christian Church Mission Fund.
