Nancy T. Geer

1930 - 2023

Nancy T. Geer (92) of Stuarts Draft, Virginia passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on January 28, 2023, at The Meadows of Stuarts Draft Retirement Community. She was born on October 10, 1930 as the only child of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Reese) Thomason in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Nancy spent most of her youth in Rome, Georgia. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1951 with a degree in Journalism. She went to work for Southern Bell in Jacksonville, Florida. It was here that she met the love of her life, Richard Geer, with whom she shared 50 years as a Navy wife, mother, and homemaker.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter, Terri Page- Noble. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children: Sharon Coplai and husband Tom of Churchville, Richard Geer, Jr. of Sanford, Florida, Leslie Geer and partner Geoff Johnson of Staunton, and Lauren White and husband Adam of Chesapeake; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her much-adored cat, Ellie Mae.

The family extends their deep appreciation to Stuarts Draft Retirement Community for the friendships she enjoyed during her 11-year residence, and to the staff of The Meadows and Hospice of the Shenandoah for their loving care.

In honor of Nancy's wishes, there will be a private burial at Rosewood Memorial Park in Virginia Beach next to her husband, Richard. Arrangements in care of Altmeyer Funeral Homeâ€"Southside Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of the Shenandoah (PO Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939) or the Health Equipment Loan Program (PO Box 76, Churchville, VA 24421).
