Nancy Flagg Gill



Nancy Flagg Gill, age 74, a longtime resident of both Culpeper and Harrisonburg, Virginia, died July 23 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia.

She grew up in Harrisonburg and attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia graduating with a dual major in Sociology and Music. As a teenager, she was often a soloist in the Presbyterian Church Choir.

For many years she was employed as a social worker at Western State Mental Hospital, for the Harrisonburg Welfare Department and later, the Prince William County Public Welfare Department

She became Supervisor of Family and Child Services. She was also a realtor for many years.

In 1966, she married her beloved husband, Robert Dale Gill, who was employed in Federal law enforcement and the couple lived in Arlington and Manassas, Virginia, before moving to Culpeper.

In Culpeper, she organized and managed the Gift Shop for the Culpeper Hospital and volunteered at the Culpeper Animal Shelter. Nancy always loved music and reading.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Gill and a son, Andrew Samuel Gill of California.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 1 p.m. with interment to follow in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisonburg, Virginia. The Rev. Paul O'Gorek will conduct the service.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home. Condolences may be given at clore-english.com.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, Virginia 22701.
