Nancy F. Gulotta, 86, of Madison, WI, formally of Roscoe, IL, passed away on April 8, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born January 17, 1938, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Walter and Faye (Davis) Brandt. She married Sebastian “Knobby” Gulotta on December 10, 1956, in Rockford, IL, and he preceded her in death on March 15, 2000.
When she was 17, she saved enough money to buy a boat and cruise the Rock River. After graduation, she landed a job as a secretary at a state agency and later met her husband Sebastian Gulotta. Nancy enjoyed fast cars and raced the Gulotta family ‘63 Oldsmobile Starfire at Cordova Raceway. Nancy loved dogs and started showing Afghan hounds in mid-life. She began grooming dogs professionally, and started the Rockford School of Poodle Grooming where she trained many students over several years. In the process, she received an invitation and traveled to Japan for a professional demonstration. Among her many talents, Nancy was a highly skilled artist and created a number of oil paintings. She also had a passion for gardening, wallpapering, decorating, cooking, and baking. She had a strong love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her children Gregory Gulotta (Linda) of Phoenix, AZ; and daughter Cynthia Castegnaro (Wes Meixelsperger) of Madison, WI. She is also survived by her grandchildren Maria Castegnaro and Dominic Castegnaro (Lacy); and Olivia Gulotta and Dominique Gulotta. Nancy is further survived by her great grandchildren Averee, Dominic, and Brooks. Other surviving relatives include Nancy’s brother Carl Brandt (Barb), and sister-in-law Sue Edwards, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Sebastian; parents Walter and Faye; brother Lloyd; and sister Norma.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford, IL 61103, with a prayer service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Winnebago, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice, 2901 N.
