Nancy Hazel Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 19, 2025.
Nancy Jane Hazel, age 80, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family and friends.
Nancy was born on July 19, 1945, to Leon and Hazel Thorner, and throughout her life she embodied strength, kindness, and devotion to those she cherished. She will be remembered for her warm spirit, her resilience, and happy-go-lucky attitude.
She is survived by her son, TR (Jessie) Hazel; grandchildren Dakota (Dylaina), Nathan, and Madison Hazel; great-grandsons Carter and Jameson; sisters Kay (George) Moody and Dallas Rusak; sister-in-laws Karen Thorner and Kay Hazel; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim, her son Joseph (Joe), and her brother Bill Thorner.
Nancy's career was dedicated to caring for others, working for many years as a nurse aide. Beginning at Yale Medilodge and later retiring from Martha T. Berry Medical Care Facility, she left behind a legacy of compassion.
Outside of work, Nancy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved watching her grandchildren's activities. She enjoyed reading, playing cards/games, canning, going to garage sales, and volunteering at We Care Resale. She will be remembered for her delicious homemade fudge.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Memorials are suggested to the We Care Resale or McLaren Hospice.
