Nancy Hedges Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by White Funeral Home - Apple Valley on Jan. 5, 2026.
Nancy Ann Hedges, Age 87 of Apple Valley, MN went home to the Lord on December 25, 2025. Nancy was born on October 29, 1938, in Sioux City, IA. Her parents were Henry T Hedges and Lurie B Hedges (Moser). She was the tenth child of thirteen. She is survived by one sister, Beverly Williams. Nancy had four children, Lurie A Alderink (Dave), Brad Hedges (Amy), Troy Hedges (Kristin) and Vicki Hedges (Matt). From an early age she showed her compassion for others as she cared for two of her younger siblings. She helped in her father's bakery, often making dozens of pies. In 1959 she reunited with Norm Hedges. Norm had returned home from the Navy and was best friends with Nancy's brother Lewie. They both served in the Korean war and had grown up together. Love ensued and Nancy and Norm were married in April of 1959. They were married for 47 years and raised 4 children together. Norm passed away in 2006 from cancer. Mom and Dad were very involved in their kids, grandkids, and even great grandkids' lives, always there to encourage them. Nancy taught them many skills and was a wonderful storyteller.

Nancy enjoyed playing Aggravation and Rummy with her family.

Many family road trips over the years will be countless sources of fond memories. Life brought many moves over the years and new experiences. As the years passed, she went to bingo most Saturdays and made many friends at Wild Bills in Apple Valley. Wild Bills staff and the Bingo crew became family. Living in an apartment in Rosemount she would visit with neighbors at the puzzle table. Her smile and cheerful outlook brought her many friends. Mom recently moved into the Apple Valley Villa for assisted living. She passed peacefully and pain-free on the 25th as the Lord called her home. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and a great, great grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled for 10 AM at the White funeral Home in Apple Valley, MN

Service following the visitation at 11 AM. She will be laid to rest at Acacia Cemetery following the service.
