Nancy Jean Hampson Hepinger, 77, of Washington, died on Saturday, May 20, 2023, in Jefferson Hospital.
She was born on September 13, 1945, in Fairmont, W.Va., a daughter of the late Carol Ray (Marjorie) Cole and Clarice Jeanne Keffer Butcher.
Nancy was a graduate of Farmington High School, in Farmington, W.Va.
Mrs. Hepinger worked for more than 30 years, until her retirement, at Community Action Southwest, which provided the much needed Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC).
She was the Vice President of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 13.
Nancy enjoyed travel, especially when she went on her girls' trips with her best friends.
Family was extremely important to Nancy, and she loved spending time with them, especially her beloved granddaughter.
On November 29, 1980, she married Arthur W. Hampson, who died on April 14, 2014.
On October 31, 2015, she married Edward V. Hepinger, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Stephanie R. Auld, who shared a home with her mother in Washington; Jay R. Brown, of Washington, and James E. Brown; two brothers, Duane R. (Martine) Cole, of Fairmont, W.Va., and Phillip A. (Rebecca) Cole, of Fairmont, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Jessica (Matthew) Johnston, of Washington, and Brandon M. Brown; two great-granddaughters, Raelynn Johnston and Taylor Johnston; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, is a son-in-law, Thomas Auld.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, on Friday, May 26, 2023, with Reverend Eric Powell officiating.

Nancy was one of the nicest women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing she cared about everybody and everything and gave it her all she helped many people in her years serving as a representative for WIC she will surely be missed and I will never forget our good times when we were together at a convention or just going to a dinner she was the greatest she is gone but never but she will never be forgotten rest in peace you deserve the wings and a special place in heaven
