Memorial services for Nancy Janu, of Glenwood, Minnesota, will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood. Father Joe Vandeberg will be celebrating the mass and burial will be at a later date at Minnewaska Lutheran Cemetery in Starbuck, Minnesota.
Nancy Ann Janu was born in Starbuck Minnesota, on May 20, 1939, to George and Mabel Wesen. She was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Starbuck High School in 1958. Following high school Nancy moved to the Twin Cities where she met the love of her life, Anthony Janu. They were married on May 6th, 1961, in St. Paul. They made their home in Richfield, Minnesota where they raised their four children. They also had a cabin on Lake Minnewaska in Starbuck and eventually made it their permanent home after Anthony’s retirement.
To Nancy, her family was everything. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she poured her love into them with every opportunity. Her legacy is one of unconditional love. Nancy had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She approached the world with a kind heart and an open mind, always ready to offer support, share wisdom, or lend a listening ear. Nancy’s presence was a source of comfort and joy to many, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have known her.
Nancy passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Knute Nelson in Alexandria. She was 84 years old.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Kim (Jay) McDonald of Glenwood; sons, Tony (Carrie) Janu of Glenwood, and Jason (Trisha) Janu of Zimmerman; six grandchildren: Kristina (John) Anderson, Brianna (Cody) Blevins, Kevin Janu, Jenna Janu, Cater Janu, and Josie Janu; two great-grandchildren: Crosby and Wylie Blevins; and her brother: Dick (Kathy) Wesen. Nancy is preceded in death by her husband: Anthony Janu; son: Wayne Janu; parents: George and Mabel Wesen; and brothers: Jerry Wesen, Donnie Wesen, and Norman Hoium.
