1940 ~ 2026

Nancy Kay Jensen, our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed peacefully on January 7, 2026 at the age of 85.

Born to George Alden and Laverna Lloyd Kay on October 29, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Nancy was one of six children. She spent her childhood exploring and playing on their family's large property, as well as harvesting many different fruits and vegetables on the land. Her love of gardening continued to be a passion of hers into adulthood. As a late teen, she met and married the love of her life Gordon Dean Jensen and they started their family together. They had four sons and one daughter, and Nancy stayed very busy with this rowdy bunch. Although she had her hands full as a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother, she made a goal to complete her high school education before any of her children. She accomplished this by graduating from Jordan Valley High School in 1976.

Nancy was a very attentive and caring mother and "Nana". One of the many ways she showed her love was through home cooked meals and baked goods. Once her children were grown and left home, her focus became nurturing and deepening her relationship with Gordy, and they grew to be each other's best friend. Together they loved going on rooting trips to explore the desert, taking long rides through the mountains on the Harley, and sometimes just enjoying a beer on their back porch listening to Gordon Lightfoot CD's.

Nancy also loved the Utah Jazz for a time and was a season ticket holder for several years. She took great joy in sharing this love with her children and grandchildren. More recently, her sports interests returned to baseball as she was truly a baseball mom when her boys were in Little League. It was not unusual for visitors to find her watching a baseball game, whether it be the Little League Championships or the MLB. She enjoyed spending time outside tending to the produce and flowers in the garden and keeping her bird feeders and bird baths full. One of her favorite activities was watching the birds and wildlife that made daily visits to her backyard.

Our memories of and with her will be forever cherished and she will be greatly missed.

Nancy is survived by her children, Clint (Sally), Dale, Brenda (Tom) Skowyra, Zane, 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; sisters Charlene Lloyd, Priscilla (Gregg) Armstrong, brother Gordon (Kim Kaycin) Kay, sister-in-law Evelyn Kay. Preceded in death by her best friend and husband Gordy, son Wes, daughter-in-law Barbara and parents Alden and Laverna Kay; brothers Don and Lloyd (Carolyn) Kay.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah.
