Nancy Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Krause Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Inc. - New Berlin on Jan. 2, 2025.
Nancy Lee Johnson (nee Nebel) found everlasting peace on Monday, December 30th, 2024, at the age of 84 after a 5-year battle with Dementia/Alzheimer's. She is survived by the love of her life, Iward G. Johnson Jr. Recently celebrating 64 years of marriage, Iward and Nancy were the epitome of true love.
Loving mother of Tamara (Peter) Waschbisch, Karin Svec, and Kelly (Kevin) Lannoye. Beloved sister and best friend of Darlene (the late Bob) Polenc. Proud grandmother of Melissa, Samantha, Michael (Val), Alexandra, Kaitlin (the late Brett), Nicholas, Arianna (Noah), Joseph and Kayla. Even prouder GG (great grandmother) of Mikey, Carter, Mason, Travis, Juliann and Presley.
Preceded in death and reunited in heaven by her parents Herbert and Esther Nebel; sisters Catherine, Marion, June, and Shirley.
Nancy had such love and appreciation for her life. She credited most of the life she loved so much to her best friend and husband, Iward. Or as she called him, Sonny. Iward was the light of her life and to watch their journey together was a gift of itself. Nancy truly adored her family more than anything in this world.
Nancy spent 25 years working at General Mitchell Elementary School as the lunch supervisor, or as the kids called her, "the lunch lady." It was through working at school that she built up a large clientele for her true passion in life, being a seamstress.
Nancy had such a gift for crafting. Alterations, sewing, cross-stitching, crocheting; you name it, and Nancy could do it. In her final years, Nancy enjoyed puzzles and coloring, keeping up with her talents as long as she could.
Nancy was a social butterfly who never met a stranger. Attending church, taking trips to Wendover, Nevada, and Sundays socializing with her loved ones during Packers games were just a few of her favorite things.
Nancy received her diagnosis of dementia in 2019 and despite having three older sisters who succumbed to the disease, she continued to live a life of joy and gratitude. Not a day went by where you wouldn't see Nancy smile.
Nancy will not only be missed by her family and friends, but she will also never be forgotten. If you had the honor of knowing her, you knew the meaning of pure joy and happiness.
Nancy often used the phrase, "What, ME worry?" which ultimately became her motto in life, even up until her final day. There isn't anyone "worried" right now that Nancy isn't spreading her optimism, enthusiasm, joy and love up in Heaven. Her love and legacy continue to live through those that loved her most.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association are greatly appreciated.
Visitation to be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 12:45 PM at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin. Funeral Service to begin at 1:00 PM. Interment Highland Memorial Park Cemetery.

I had the honor of knowing Nancy when we worked at General Mitchell Elementary school and for many years after.
He and her husband Sonny are the nicest people you would ever want to meet.
She was so talented. She loved her family.
She is missed

My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to all of Nancy's family. I first met Nancy at General Mitchell School. I was a lunch lady there and Nancy was one of the lunch supervisors that helped students open milk cartons, and so much more. She was amazing with the students. I also had her do some sewing alterations for me. Again, she was amazing. She will deeply be missed. Heaven gained one amazing Angel.

Nancy is my mother in law. Since I met her in 2001, she welcomed me as her own son. She has been the most caring loving free spirit and a breath of fresh air since I´ve known her. I am heartbroken that she is gone yet, I´m happy she has found eternal peace and will live in endless happiness reuniting with her family and friends. She will be forever in my heart as a second mother and while I´m heartbroken, I am so happy for her to finally have peace and happiness as this horrible disease is behind her and her parents have come to help her in the afterlife!!!. I love you so much forever "mom"!
