Nancy was born on June 3, 1951 in Crete, NE to Irvin A and Evelyn (Placek) Fritz. She passed away on March 27, 2026, at the age of 74. She grew up on a farm northwest of Wilber, NE. Nancy attended Country School District #9 K-8. Graduated from Wilber – Clatonia High School in May 1969. She then worked for Springer Insurance Agency in Crete, and then the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service in Wilber. She met and later married Nicholas D. Krumme at the United Methodist Church in Fairbury, NE on June 22, 1974. Three sons were born to the marriage: Brian, Brandon, and Bradley.
In Fairbury, she worked at Fairbury Lumber & Supply until it closed. Nancy was the Assistant Manager at Stage Stores Inc. until it closed. She worked for several weeks at First National Bank, but decided that it wasn’t for her and went to work at Ray’s Apple Market on April 9th, 2001. She really enjoyed the customers and the camaraderie with customers and fellow workers. She had a playful nickname for a great many of them.
Nancy enjoyed westerns - her favorite being the series Rawhide. She enjoyed reading, mostly historic and romance novels, mysteries and doing crossword puzzles. She loved anything patriotic, flags and eagles especially. She loved the full moon and country music. Her favorite artist being Ricky Van Shelton. She enjoyed camping with Nick and their dog Bailey. She deeply loved animals. Especially cats. She had a daily routine for feeding squirrels and birds. She firmly believed if you are good to animals, you are a good person inside. “Never say never” was her favorite saying. She was known for her penmanship that she learned from District #9.
She is survived by her husband Nick; their children Brian, Brandon (Cathy), Brad (Kristina); grandchildren Austin, Connor, Callie Lambrecht (Shawn), Brenden, Tristan, Madison, and Rebekah; great grandchildren Aiden, Remington, and Alice Lambrecht; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Warner and Janet Krumme; nieces Emily Mills and Valerie Geihsler, as well as Lifelong friend, Sharon Ramsey.
She was preceded in death by her parents Irvin and Evelyn Fritz; grandparents John and Mary Placek and Albert and Mary Fritz; infant brother Irvin Fritz Jr, and William, Flora Marie, and Jeffrey Krumme.
There will be a Celebration of her Life at the Burkley Family Center, 509 E Street in Fairbury on June 20th, 2026 from 2:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M.
