Nancy Wintermeyer Hill Obituary
Nancy Lynne Wintermeyer Hill, 65, of rural Trenton passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Nancy was born on January 5, 1959, to William E. "Bill" and Mary F. (Rodruck) Wintermeyer. She was the youngest of 5 children and was known as a capable and diligent worker on and off the family farm. Nancy was a Christian and spent time daily on her personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She brought others closer to Jesus by living His example. Nancy graduated from WACO High School and continued her education at Kirkwood Community College. Nancy raised hogs with her brother and father in her early adulthood, and built a lifelong career with the United States Postal Service.
Nancy married Roger R. Hill of Winfield on October 9, 1993 and embraced the role of step mother to Roger's children, Gregory Hill, MD of Cedar Rapids Iowa, and Christina K. Hill of Waukesha, Wisconsin. Roger and Nancy established their homestead north of Trenton and later adopted Christina L. Jordon Hill. Nancy became "Grammie" when Greg and his wife Lisa welcomed Jason Hill and Lindsey Hill to the world. Nancy and Roger enjoyed years of caring for their home, their family, and each other until Roger's passing in 2021.
Nancy found joy in serving others. She volunteered with the Winfield Fire Department, Henry County 4-H program, Hospice programs, Meals on Wheels, Henry County Agricultural Extension, and held formal and informal leadership roles in church over the years. She enjoyed gardening and canning with her husband, and always appreciated his support of her draft horse hobby. Nancy cultivated deep and meaningful friendships with people of all ages and found enjoyment in spending time with those she loved. Those fortunate enough to know her will carry memories of morning walks, special trips, family dinners, campfires by the river, horse-drawn wagon rides, and hours long phone calls.
Those left to remember her include her sisters, Ronna Lorensen and her husband, Charles of Muscatine, and PJ Wintermeyer of Winfield and her brother, Ed Wintermeyer of Mt. Pleasant, step son, Gregory Hill, MD and his wife Lisa of Cedar Rapids, step daughter, Christina K Hill of Waukesha, Wisconsin and adopted daughter, Christina L Jordon Hill of Ottumwa, and her grandchildren, Jason Hill of Des Moines and granddaughter Lindsey Hill of Cedar Rapids. She shared a special connection with a wealth of in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. "Bill" and Mary F. Wintermeyer, her husband Roger R. Hill, and a sister Mardi (Wintermeyer) Denny.
A Celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Crawfordsville, with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. Friends may call at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant on Friday, August 9, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. that evening. A private burial will be held at the White Oak Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory.
