Nancy Mascolo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fischer Funeral Care & Cremation Services on Mar. 16, 2026.
Nancy Margaret Shea Mascolo, 78, passed on peacefully this past Monday, March 16, 2026, at

her home in Georgia, just in time to celebrate St. Patty's Day in heaven.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Joseph and Elenore Shea. Nancy loved to read cozy mysteries and watch

her old VHSs and DVDs and was very good with numbers but was a terrible speller. Nancy never met a stranger,

always had a smile on her face and was the definition of "glass half

full." She loved all holidays and decorated for each one accordingly. She loved being Irish and

celebrated St. Patty's Day with her green hat, kiss me I'm Irish buttons, and a crock pot of

corned beef and cabbage every year. Nancy had 10 green thumbs but loved cactus plants and

succulents above all else. Nancy loved to cook and bake; no one could resist her deviled eggs.

She loved buying and giving gifts, all unique and original. Nancy was the neatest, cleanest,

most organized and would flip your toilet paper around and fold in it in triangle if you had it on

backwards.

Nancy spent her early life as a bartender and worked at several restaurants in

South Florida, where she moved when she was first married to Vinnie Mascolo. They raised

their only daughter, Celeste, in South Florida working in restaurants around the town.

Nancy retired from the service industry at 40 and pivoted to her dream job as a nanny. It was

this career that provided her with the big family she always wanted. The Berg and Cantu Family

hold a dear place in her heart and she keeps in touch with the 5 children she cared for during

her time in Tallahassee and Alpharetta. Nancy simply loves and adores David, Jack, Lauren.

Cole and Katie and cherishes the time she spent helping care for them.

Nancy was a single mother and prided herself on the job she did raising her daughter, Celeste.

Nancy moved to be close to her daughter. Tallahassee while Celeste was in college and Atlanta

when Celeste graduated. Nancy bought a beautiful home in Alpharetta in 2000, close enough

for Sunday lunches and to attend all the activities of her beautiful granddaughters, Regan and

Emerson. Nancy adored her home and decorated it with all the things she loved; books, plants

and tchotchkes. Nancy loved to collect things; Betty Boob, Pillsbury Dough Boys, Butterflies,

Disney figurines, books, religious statues and crosses . Her daughter Celeste will keep everything

she loved and will open a shop called "The Purple Rooster" so others can enjoy her collections as well. This

brought Nancy great joy to know her treasures would live on, it also gives Celeste great peace

that they will find a forever home.

Nancy went to live in heaven after a nice long sleep in her home, long enough for all the

goodbyes and arrangements to be made. Nancy will live in heaven with her parents and

Emerson, her granddaughter, and will watch over all the children she has cared for and loved.

Nancy is survived by her sister, Pat, daughter, Celeste Podojil; her son-in-law, Jeff Podojil; and her

cherished grandchildren, Regan (21), Ethan (7) and Dakota (6). Nancy will be remembered for

her sunny disposition, her love of children, and her ability to talk to anyone. If you ever met

Nancy, you would agree, she was the sweetest, kindest, cutest woman in yellow. She was

beautiful inside and out and has left behind a happy legacy.

The family will receive guests Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 10 am until noon at Fischer Funeral Care.

Funeral mass will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 1:00 pm at St. Brigid Catholic Church, Johns Creek, Georgia. Interment to follow at Arlington Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to The Smasherson Foundation, 501(c)(3), www.smasherson.org

Or, buy yourself a baby succulent, put it in a sunny spot, and say a prayer for Nancy when you water it weekly.
