Born June 28, 1929, in Torrington, Connecticut, Irene Jane Zoli Mascolo passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Pomperaug Woods in Southbury, Connecticut.
Irene now joins her beloved husband, Frederic Edward Mascolo of Waterbury, CT, with whom she shared more than 65 years of love, partnership, and unwavering devotion to family. She was the oldest of three daughters. She was predeceased by her sisters, Gloria Ann Zoli Friedlander and Raffaela "Rae" Zoli Hurley.
After graduating from Torrington High School, Irene pursued her calling in nursing at Saint Mary's School of Nursing in Waterbury, CT. She earned her associate's nursing degree and began her career at Saint Mary's Hospital.
In addition, Irene worked in the medical practice of Dr. Paula Moynahan. Later in life, she supported her youngest son, Ed, at NEJ, Inc. She approached every task-large or small-with grace, integrity, and devotion.
Irene is survived by her son Ed and his wife Heidi, and by her three grandsons-Chase, Reed, and Cole-who brought her immeasurable joy and pride. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederic, and by her oldest son, Frederic Jr.
Irene will be remembered for her love for her family, her kindness toward all she encountered, and her quiet but extraordinary strength.
Arrangements: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Roman Catholic Church of Middlebury & Southbury - Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury, CT. Family and friends are invited to attend. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury, CT. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT has been entrusted with handling Irene's funeral arrangements.
