Nancy McCurdy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McKibben & Guinn Funeral Service - Grenada on Dec. 29, 2025.
Nancy Kimes McCurdy, of Carroll County, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

Nancy was born on February 25, 1945, to Thomas Edwin "T.E." and Mary Wachter Kimes. In 1960, she met the love of her life, Robert Andrew McCurdy, out on Money Road. They were married soon after and enjoyed a long and loving marriage of 62 years.

She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and worked as a real estate broker and owner of The Property Shop in Grenada, later serving as a broker with Landmark Realty.

Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren-until the great-grandchildren came along. She was also an avid plant lover who enjoyed bringing wilted plants home and nursing them back to something beautiful. Nancy was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Greenwood.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Edwin "Eddie" Wachter Kimes.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert McCurdy; her sister, Grace Kimes Bowden (Steve) of Fort Worth, Texas; her childhood and lifelong best friend, Vickie Bates (Charlie) of Aledo, Texas; her daughter, Shayne Marie Johnson of Fort Mill, South Carolina; and her sons, Robert Chassaniol McCurdy of Carroll County and Kevin Kimes McCurdy (Rose) of Eads, Tennessee.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Eddie McCurdy (Emmalynn) of Albany, Georgia; Emilee Waldrop (Paul) of Fort Worth, Texas; Zachary Johnson (Emily) of Charlotte, North Carolina; Heath McCurdy (Arniecia) of Memphis, Tennessee; Hannah Porter (Noah) of Grenada, Mississippi; and Jesse Johnson (Patricia) of Great Falls, Montana.

She is further survived by her great-grandchildren: great-grandsons Case Porter and Wyatt Porter, and great-granddaughters Zelie Johnson, Gianna Johnson, Josephine Johnson, Adeline Waldrop, and Avila Rose Johnson.

Arrangements are under the care of McKibben and Guinn Funeral Home of Grenada. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, December 30, at 10:00 a.m., with a Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m., both held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, located at 2613 U.S. Highway 82 in Greenwood.

At Nancy's request, memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Greenwood.

Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.mckibbenandguinn.com.
