Nancy McGee Obituary

Nancy McGee
Born: October 4, 1933 in Richmond, IL
Died: March 21, 2024
Nancy Jean McGee, age 90, of McHenry, IL, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024. She was born on October 4, 1933, in Richmond, IL, to William and Ottilia "Tillie" (Hiller) Stilling. She married the love of her life, John McGee, on September 9, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richmond, IL, and they shared 60 happy years of marriage together. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2022.
Nancy was raised on her family's dairy farm in Richmond, IL, with her seven siblings. Following high school, Nancy moved to McHenry, IL, where she built a wonderful life filled with family and long-lasting friendships. Nancy was a person of devout faith and a parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church for over 60 years. She was an active member of her church community, volunteering her time as the Ladies Guild treasurer and as a longtime member of the Rosary group.
Nancy was a warm, welcoming person who was always smiling and had a great sense of humor. She had many interests over the years, including card games, dominos, golf and traveling, that all centered around spending quality time with family and friends. She also enjoyed working for many years at State Farm Insurance in McHenry. Nancy was never happier than when she was with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved and supported with unwavering pride and enthusiasm. She hosted countless family gatherings, where she would indulge everyone in her love for baking – with her snickerdoodle cookies becoming the family favorite.
Nancy's legacy is carried on by her devoted children: Peggy (John) Walding, Kathy (Tom) Nikolai, Julie (Pat) Calcagno, Mike (Laura) McGee, and Kevin (Karen) McGee. Her love further blossomed through her cherished grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) Simms, Scott (Brittany) Walding, Kristen (Chris) Manning; Jack, Matthew, and Madeline Nikolai; Quinn, Nick, Anna, and Ryan Calcagno; Owen and Ella McGee; and her adored great-grandchild, Leia Simms. She is further survived by her loving sister, Judy Huff.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband John McGee, parents William and Ottilia Stilling, siblings Rosemary Babcock, Maurice Stilling, Roger Stilling, Joanne Brefeld, Patricia Busch, and William Stilling, and granddaughter, Grace Calcagno.
As we say goodbye to Nancy, we celebrate a long life richly lived, and a soul that exemplified the true essence of being kind, loving, and faith-filled. She will continue to inspire us, and memories of her will be held close in our hearts forever.

I will always treasure my time with Nancy (and John). Their love for their children and constant kindness washed over me at Montini. Love and support was always visible in her words, actions, and beautiful smile. My prayers and condolences to one of my favorite Montini families.
