It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy Dean Churchill Melcher on October 18, 2024, in Glenwood, Iowa. Born on August 9, 1958, in Clarinda, Iowa.

Nancy's journey began in Gravity, Iowa, a charming town where she cultivated her love for country living. Her childhood was filled with fond memories of family and the beauty of nature, which would shape the rest of her life. Her kindhearted and generous spirit was evident from an early age and continued to shine brightly throughout her life.

Nancy pursued her passion for helping others by attending nursing school. She went on to touch countless lives with her nurturing care. Later Nancy worked alongside her husband Larry, where her organizational skills and attention to detail were invaluable. Together, Nancy and Larry shared a beautiful marriage of 34 years, marked by love, laughter, and partnership.

Nancy's world revolved around her family and her beloved animals. She was a devoted wife to Larry Melcher and a loving mother to her son Brian (Carrie) Melcher and stepmother to Teri (Kevin) Vaughan, Tami (Kelly) Erickson, Michelle (Steve) Pace, and Andrew (Sara) Bemman, each contributing to the tapestry of joy and love in her life. Nancy was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

In her leisure time, Nancy found joy and peace in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished her time spent with her dogs, cats, and horses, and her home in the country was her sanctuary. Nancy was an avid reader and one of her favorite things to do was to relax at home with a good book and her dogs.

Nancy was preceded in death by her sister Kathy and her beloved parents Anna and Bobby Churchill. She is survived by her devoted husband, her son, her stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her brother Dean Churchill and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on October 27, 2024, at 12:00 PM at The Back Room Lounge, 23226 Centre Drive, Glenwood, IA. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives. In lieu of flowers, honorary donations can be made to Dollys Legacy Animal Rescue or cards made out to Larry and family are greatly appreciated.

Nancy's life was a testament to love, kindness, and the beauty of simple joys. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
