Nancy Miller, 85, a native of Columbia, SC, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023. She was born on December 13, 1937, to the late Raymond Davis Lomas and Alma Julia Lomas. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Alma Rae Bishop.
A proud graduate of Eau Claire High School, class of 1955. She was even more proud to have dedicated over 30 years working for the director of the Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services. Her role helped the organization have an impact on many lives. Nancy was also a longtime member of Fairlawn United Methodist Church, where she worshiped and found comfort, community, and comradery.
Nancy was a woman of great strength and independence, who valued loyalty and family. She cherished the simple joys of life. If she wasn't outside tending to her many flowers and yard, she was inside cheering on her Clemson Tigers, or catching up with close friends and family.
Nancy had a knack for being able to remember and easily recall all the family lines and genealogy. And she could tell a good story on just about everyone in the family, especially her cousins. Some of her favorite stories, though, would start with "Well, my daddy "
She is survived by her three children, Benjamin Miller (Judy), Julie Zion (Mark), and David Miller (Leann); as well as 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 o'clock, Wednesday, July 26th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. A graveside service will be held at 10 o'clock, Thursday, July 27th, at Fairlawn United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Happy Hearts group at Fairlawn United Methodist Church, 9203 Wilson Blvd, Columbia, SC 29203.
Nancy Miller will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
