Mrs. Nancy Rebekah Hughes Miller, age 93, entered eternal rest peacefully in her home in South Hill, VA on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
She was born on July 23, 1932, to the late Allen Hughes and Ruth Hughes Thomas in Boydton, VA. She received her early education at West End High School. She was employed at Boydton Elementary School and after retiring she became a caregiver for many families in the community. In her quiet moments, Nancy enjoyed sharing the company of her grandchildren, doing her word search puzzles, and watching her favorite westerns, game shows, NBA/College basketball, and playing cards. Simple joys that brought her peace.
In addition to her her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Miller; her sister, Manova Mann and beloved nephew, Victor “Ronnie” Mann.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories her children, Michael Hughes (Patricia), Reginald Mann (Geneva), Larry Miller (Aileen), Deborah Walker, and Tracey Staten (Donald). Her love extended beyond her immediate family to her adoptive sons; James Reynolds (Bernice) and William Reynolds and her adoptive daughter, Juana Vasquez, she embraced and cared for as her own. Nancy was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Craig Jackson (Sandra), Michael S. Hughes (Jackie), Jameel Hughes, Ashleigh Jones (Ronald), and Fikisha Lane. Her legacy continues through fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She held a special place in the lives of her three goddaughters: Dorothy Greene, Rosa Harris, and Pattie Morris and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
