Nancy Lee (Rowley) Mock, age 83, of
Albia, IA, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in
Oskaloosa, IA.
Nancy was born on February 8, 1942, in Hiteman, IA, to Clarence Henry and Elsie Marie (Allison) Rowley. She grew up attending school in Albia and graduated with the Class of 1960. On November 7, 1959, she was united in marriage to Ronald Charles Mock and to this union, 2 daughters were born: Ronda and Lynne. Nancy and Ron shared 34 years of marriage prior to Ron's passing on July 23, 1993.
Nancy later attended Indian Hills Community College, where she earned her Associate of Arts degree in nursing-an accomplishment she was extremely proud of. Her greatest passion was caring for the elderly, and in addition to her long career in geriatric nursing she worked in many capacities, including positions with the Albia schools, Monroe County Hospital, John Deere, the Albia Manor, Dr. Orelup's office, and the Monroe Care Center. After retiring, she continued to share her expertise by serving as a consultant for nursing home administration.
Nancy was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and later joined the First Christian Church in Albia. She was a member of the Albia Country Club where she and Ron helped establish Couple's League and spent many hours golfing. Nancy was on the board for Oak View Cemetery, was a member of Eta Rho Sorority, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Nancy was exceptionally talented and creative. She loved crocheting and knitting and gifting her handmade baby blankets to family and friends. She later found joy in quilting and sharing her beautiful quilts with others. Nancy took great pride in caring for her home and yard, as well as flower gardening. She was an avid reader, with favorite authors including Mary Kay Andrews, Nicholas Sparks, and Richard Paul Evans. Above all, she was devoted to her grandchildren and proudly attended many of their events.
Nancy is survived by her daughters, Ronda (Frank) Montgomery and Lynne (Doug) Osing; her beautiful and talented grandchildren, Abigail (Cole) Williams, Griffin (Cassidy) Osing, Gannon (fiancée Maci Masching) Osing, and Emily (Ahmed) Obayas; 2 great grandchildren, Crew Williams and Elsie Osing; a sister, Linda (Bob) Mann; a brother-in-law, Tom (Dixie) Mock; and a sister-in-law, Pam (Richard) Calhoun. Nancy is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ron Mock; her parents, Clarence and Elsie Rowley; sisters, Delores and Ruth Ann; brothers, Marvin, Paul, and Clarence; sisters and brothers-in-law, Deb and Glenn Matters and Allen and Carol Mock; and brothers-in-law, Terry and Mike Johnson.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Oak View Cemetery in Albia, with Pastor John Sowers officiating.
