Nancy Monosso Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel - Knoxville on Oct. 1, 2025.
Nancy Monosso lived a life filled with love, laughter, and just the right amount of mischief. Born in Evanston, Illinois, to Axel and Dagmar Johnson, she grew up with a strong work ethic, a big heart, and a knack for keeping things interesting. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lily.
She graduated from Evanston High School before starting her adventure into adulthood. In 1960, she married Walter Steffen, with whom she had her beloved son, David (Cindy) Steffen. Life later led her to Dick Monosso, whom she married in 1986, and she happily embraced her expanded family: Stacy Monosso (Jennifer Kuhl), Susan (Chris) Peck, Jeff (Andrea) Monosso, and Jason (Maegan) Monosso. She found so much joy in her grandchildren-Steven Binko, Tyler Steffen, Ashtin and Lauren Peck, and Nolan, Grace, William, Rose, and Abigail Monosso.
Nancy was never one to shy away from hard work, and she had a résumé as unique as she was. She did everything from working in a candy factory to delivering singing telegrams and eventually, she found her way to the Waukesha County Courts, where she built a career she was proud of, retiring in 2004.
Beyond her work and family, Nancy had a soft spot for dogs-especially German Shepherds as she had bred champions and showed them for many years. Her current four-legged companion, a sweet chihuahua/terrier mix Maya, will miss her dearly.
Nancy's quirky humor, feisty attitude and unwavering love for her family (both two-legged and four-legged) will never be forgotten. Her legacy of warmth and resilience lives on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be held on June 25th at 10am St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Waukesh. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite animal shelter or the ASPCA in her honor are appreciated-because if there's one thing Nancy would love, it's knowing more dogs are being cared for in her name.
