Nancy Lee Mooney, age 79, of Candler Florida died on Tuesday morning February 20th, 2024.
Nancy was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio where she met and married the love of her life, Russell J "Russ" Mooney. Their marriage lasted 48 years until she was preceded in death by Russ. Also preceding Nancy in death were her loving parents, Herbert and Dorothy Clemence and her beloved sister Virginia "Jean" Gesdorf.
Nancy retired from the Marion County School System after over 30 years, but she never really left her Lake Weir Middle School family, keeping involved with many of them through the years.
Nancy is survived by her son Ricky Mooney (Debbie) and daughter Melissa Mooney Batterbee. Three step daughters Candy Wisdom, Cindy Chambers and Joyce Cooper. Multiple grandchildren, including Ricki Rowan (Daniel) and Mack Batterbee, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Her beloved nieces Chris Ciupa, Cathy Helton and Laurie Kyser.
A celebration of Nancy's life is planned for a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity in Nancy's name would be appreciated.

Nancy was the first face you saw when you arrived at LWMS every morning. She played a pivotal role in the infamous Jewett Springer, LWMS era in time. She kept us all in her heart, cared deeply, and along with many others kept us sane. She will be missed at our reunions.

Nancy and I worked together at Lake Weir Middle School for over 20 years. Walking into the office each morning to be greeted with that smile will stay with me forever. She was the best!

Nancy was my Maiden of Honor when I married Les. Every year on our anniversary she put an anniversary card in my teacher mail box. She was a true friend!
