Nancy Lee Myers, 79, of Kent, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, at UH Portage Medical Center. She was born in Takoma Park, MD on July 25, 1943, to the late Charles Philip and Mary Evelyn Seltzer. Nancy was a retired employee of Kent State University as a secretary with the Upward Bound, School of Music and History departments.

She was a long-time, active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she volunteered in the church office and assisted with food and clothing outreach programs. She was a lover of music and would sing in church choirs, family songfests, car rides, campfire circles and public concerts. Nancy enjoyed playing board games, card games and laughing with family and friends. She was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed relaxing at the beach, joining her three grandchildren with all their activities and shared many caring moments with her neighbors on Wolcott Ave. Her family and friends all loved her dearly as she was a joy to have in their lives.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her niece, Laura Seltzer.

She leaves her daughter and son-in-law Heidi and Toby Jurging; grandchildren, Porter, Harper and Easton; siblings, John (Joyce) Seltzer, Margaret (Chuck) Thomas, Dave (Angie) Seltzer, Ruth Gorman and Pete (Jennifer) Seltzer; nieces and nephews, Amy, Gwen, Erica, Brent, Carrie, Chelsea, Tucker and Emma; and her best friend who has become like family, Lorraine Davis.

A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Eric Bodenstab, will be offered Saturday, September 3, 2022, 12:00PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 600 S. Water St., Kent Ohio 44240. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00AM-12:00PM on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in her name, to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Portage County APL.

Nancy was a joy to know and I'm so glad we got to share those seminary years together. I wish she was still with us so that I could tell her that her God-daughter Kristen Nagle Mouritsen began going to Seminary on that same date. She would be so pleased! I miss Nancy so much: She was a Blessing to me!

Nancy is one of my oldest and dearest friends. When our husbands were in Seminary at Gettysburg, the four of us would spend countless hours playing board games and laughing the whole time. We sat on old crates since we had no furniture and were as poor as church mice. But those hours together were the highlights of our years there. I loved Nancy so much that we asked her to be our daughter Kristen's God mother.
The world has lost a beautiful, smiling woman and I am forever grateful that she was in my life. I still find it hard to believe that she is gone. Even though I can't be present Saturday, I will join her family and friends to honor her life and friendship on Saturday, online. Blessings to all. Lanie Nagle
