Funeral Services for Nancy Lou Beckley Nugent will be held at 10:00 AM, February 9, 2023, from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA., with Bro. Kent Nugent officiating, and interment following at Sandy Bayou Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Riser Funeral Home, Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Nancy Nugent was born on May 11, 1942, in Scotia, California to the union of her parents, James Henry Beckley and Lucille Finley Beckley, and passed peacefully from this life on February 5, 2023.
Nancy had a heart of gold. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, and collecting anything she could to spend Carls money. Nancy had a huge collection of angels. She could make people laugh without even trying. Nancy loved cooking but, had a passion for baking sweets, (especially her fruitcakes). She also cooked and catered for weddings. Nancy loved starting flower beds and never seem to find the time to finish them. Nancy was always willing and ready to help anybody she could. She was one of the founding members of the Wish I Could organization and she also enjoyed helping at the Schepis Museum.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Nugent; her son, James Morris Nugent; brothers: Jimmy, PeeWee, Beaver, Bobby, Tommy, Russell, and Little Henry. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Kent Nugent (Tammie); daughters: Shana Townsend (Richard) and Terry McDougald (Chester); a brother, Jackie Beckley; a sister, Susie Orr (Keith); grandchildren: Lee Townsend, Tyler Townsend, Stephen Townsend, Sara "Boo" McDougald, Britanny Whitten (Keith), Shelby McGuffee (Levi), Carrie Nugent Smith (Seth); great-grandchildren: Karlie, Jaron, James, Andrew, Taylor, Adelynn, Silas, Bryar, Wren, Deacon, Aubrey, and Rowdy.
Pallbearers include Lee Townsend, Tyler Towsnsend, Stephen Townsend, Levi McGuffee, Keith Whitten, and Seth Smith. Honorary pallbearer is Harry Cassels.
