Nancy Jane Olpin, age 85, passed away April 22, 2025, at her home in Vernal, Utah.
Nancy was born October 4, 1939 in Los Angeles, California to Arthur Leonard and Mildred Estelle Jones Willey. She married Joseph “Ted” Edwin Olpin February 2, 1973 in Evanston, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple.
Nancy was a dedicated and loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Over the course of her lifetime she faced many challenges, but through incredible character, willpower and self-sacrifice she carved out an incredible life for herself and her loved ones. She could bring hope to those she loved in any situation and always provided an example of steadfastness that was a foundation to those who love her.
Nancy was loved by many and described as having a quiet, peaceful demeanor. She was an incredibly talented seamstress who found great joy in making quilts and clothing for others. Nancy loved cooking and gardening. She also enjoyed reading historical novels. Over the years she had many beloved animals including dogs and chickens.
She is survived by; eight children: Joseph Dale Olpin, Rosewood, CA; Nancy Kay Hansen, Logan, UT; Alta Olpin, Logan, UT; Darlene (Gordon) Branson, Ellensburg, WA; David (Terri) Olpin, West Jordan, UT; Leonard DuCharme, Vernal, UT; Julie (Darren) Jensen, Cedar City, UT; Naomi Jane (John, deceased) Coons, South Jordan, UT; daughter-in-law, Karen DuCharme; 31 grandchildren and many loving great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Sandra Thomson; her spouse, Joseph E. “Ted” Olpin, her son, Wayne Duchrame and daughter, Robin Ross; grandchildren: Teresa Mabbutt, Shelly Pope, Aaron DuCharme, Nigel DuCharme and Shauna Lee Robb.
There will be a Celebration of Life and Visitation on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. at the Mountain View Stake Center (2901 W 9000 S, West Jordan, Utah).
Following the service she will be cremated.
