Nancy Owen Obituary
Nancy was born on December 26, 1931, to Hoy and Mabel Yarborough, Sr. in Guilford County, NC. Nancy attended and graduated from Allen Jay High School. She was employed by Bank of America where she retired as a Trust Associate in 1993, with 29 years of service.
Nancy was happily married to Joseph C. Mabe on July 8, 1962, for 25 years until his death on April 30, 1988. Later in life she married W. Ray Owen, Jr. on September 18, 1999, who she found much joy and happiness with until his death on April 15, 2004. She also found joy in spending time with her daughter and her family, loved flowers and shopping when she was able and doing crosswords and jigsaw puzzles.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Hoy & Mabel Yarborough, Sr and her brother, Hoy Yarborough, Jr. (Sonny).
Nancy is survived by her daughter Nancy Jo Mabe Ratliff (David); grandchildren, Hannah Longest (Dylan) and Ben Ratliff (McKenzie); great-grandchildren Grey Longest, Wren Longest, Nolan Ratliff and Jett Longest; stepdaughters, Jolyn Mabe, Cheryl Brown and Jana Owen; stepson, Buddy Owen and many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a big thank you to the caregivers at Executive Home Care of Richmond, VA and Suncrest Hospice of Richmond VA for their care and kindness shown during the last year and weeks of Nancy's life.
There will be visitation at 10:00am at Westchester Baptist Church, with a funeral service following at 11:00am. Burial to follow immediately at Floral Garden Park Cemetery on Thursday, January 8, 2026.
