Nancy Peace, age 81, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy painted not only on canvas and billboards, but in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. A gifted artist, Nancy spent over two decades working with Lamar Advertising, where she brought color and character to countless billboards across interstates and cities-landmarks seen and remembered by thousands every day.
Among her most treasured works were the iconic "Welcome to Westlake" and "Y'all Come Back" signs that greet travelers in her beloved hometown, as well as the portrait of W.T. Burton that proudly hung in the Burton Coliseum for many years.
Nancy is survived by her son, Christopher Warren Peace, his wife Elizabeth Peace, and their two sons, Matthew and Zachary; her daughter, Catherine Amanda Lee Racca, and husband Jason Racca, along with their daughters, Jayden Racca and Victoria Guidry and husband Dylan Guidry, and great-grandson Liam Guidry.
She is also survived by her devoted cousin, Tina May Yates.
For the past 20 years, Nancy shared her life with her loving companion, Larry Gene Johnson. She embraced his children-Jesslyn, Allison, Rebecca, and Aaron-as part of her extended family.
Nancy's life was a canvas of love, dedication, and creativity. Her art spoke volumes, and her presence lit up every room. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.
